OK I did actually finish an item so here it is. It went into a gift for a Salvation Army Forgotten Senior that I adopted. It started out as a simple scarf and morphed into a Keyhole Scarf. It was fun!

It's "Sassy Stripes" superwash from Cascade Yarns in shade 718 (heh) I call it Gryffindor!

Heh TT is going to faint. I finished a knitted piece. Good thing too because it's going to the shower.. nope it isn't a shower it is a "Blessing of the Mother." Here is my first baby's bib.

Pattern: One Hour Baby Bib by Shelby Dyas
Yarn: Peaches and Cream or Sugar and Cream (lable was missing)
1 ball of Purple and 1 ball of cream (some is left over)
Time: (since I am the worlds slowest knitter) more like 3.5 hours.

Hi there all! Ok I spent last week in meeting hell. OMG paying 2 people lots of money to tell us that the key to being a great teacher is to form relationships is stupid! And we had to sit through it! Esh!

I will most likely be not here much this week until I get into the groov of school again. Plus we are starting 30 mins earlier. I have to be at school by 6:45 AM. Yeah.. really great for a non-morning person. Hep! Hep!

Kinda down. Had a long talk with my brother about some family stuff and realized that my other Bros and Sisters have been talking together about family stuff for a long time. Glad to know that the loop exists and I'm not a part of it. Gotta love being excluded by family. Spent 2 hours on friday crying about this. Stupid eh? Nothing like family to make you feel smaller than a gnat.

OK off to actually do something maybe even knit.

Monday we'll be back in school so no more morning walks with my lil Cocoa until the next break. Mom will get the pleasure herself and I will miss it. We've been having to go early because it's been sooooo hot lately. For our morning walk we usually go to the same park. It's a good size and Cocoa's lil legs get a nice work out. We let her pick the way she wants to go and usually she picks a different one every morning.

In Clear Lake Park there is a lil childs play area, it has some climbing areas and a few slides. Cocoa loves to slide down the small slide at THAT park. That's not our usual park. Our usual has a couple of kids play areas and a slide similiar to the one at Clear Lake. But Cocoa never tried that slide... until today. Today she climbed up the stairs, peered down the slide and Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Away she went.

At the bottom she... well... she... I need to say that Shih tzu's seem to have this thing that they do... It's like the 100 yard dash at full speed in biiiig circles. It's amusing. Tail and ears fly! After her slide she went into a BIIIIG run around the equipment. It caused the other dog owners to chuckle... outloud... alot!

Then she zoooooooms up the stairs and weeeeeeeeeeeeeee back down the slide one more time. After that she glanced at my mom and headed out the gate toward the car. She stopped once and peered back as if to say... well! Come on! The car is waiting.

POA Scarf

Ok.. I've been knitting this a while and it's somewhat far along... 4 trapped bars in. But is it toooo wide. It takes forever to do one repeat and it's just knit knit knit along. It's great for taking to movies but otherwise it gets dull! My question is... should I frog it and start it again with even fewer stitches cast on. I didn't do the 90 that atypical knits suggests but I wonder if even fewer wouldn't be wise.

Suggestions?

I am loving Ravelry. It's waaaay too fun ya know what I mean? It was nice to come back from my mini vacation and have my invite.

I was sorting and stuff like that (ick I know) and I came across something that I had forgotten about. I know I shouldn't have because it IS attatched to one of my WIPs but I have gotten waaaaaaaaaaaay tired of the blankie sooooo I forgot. Sue me!

I do appologize about the blurry photo. It's hot and I'm pooped from all my sorting...

This is an empty Vietnamese (I think) Jello Candy container. Another teacher at work brought the jello candies to her students at the end of the year last year. (On a side note they are funny... they look like prepackaged Jello shots! They aren't, they have no alchohol...) I looked at the jar and went OMG can I have it! It looks alot like those yarn holders that they sell at yarn stores, wal-mart and other various places.

It's cool!

I drilled holes into the top and voila! A Yarn Holder extrodinaire!

You can't see it at the top but there is even a handle. :-)

Hi ho all.

Just got back from a short vacation. Mom and I left Houston and headed to the Diamond mines in Arkansas. Waaaaay fun but waaaaaaaaaaay too hot. Then we went from there to Branson, Mo. That also was waaaaay fun but waaaaaaaaay hot.

I took 3 scarves to work on but ended up doing alot of the driving so all I actually worked on was I cast on a Linen Stitch Scarf for my brother. From yarn I found at the Five and Dime in Branson. Yep a 5 & 10. It was fun.

Not sure I love the scarf yet but it's about 2 inches big so I will wait and see. Cross yer fingers.

I checked the antsy o'meter on Ravelry. 125 people in front of me. Flails!

I started two baby blankets. Forever to be known as NEBs. Just what is a NEB you ask? Thank you for asking... A NEB is a Never Ending Blanket! OMG the more I knit the longer they get but the end seems just as far away! HELP!!

You know... I think I am also going to make NEB generic... How about NEP. Never Ending Project! :-)

On that note. I may be taking a small mini-vacation. Anyone know any patterns for any socks that is good for first time socksers? Hep Hep! Though perhaps I should just take 2 scarves and start the Xmas stuff.... ::ponders::

OK must be better about blogging here. Esh I know that I have been having an interesting summer... sort of. :-) But no excuse right?

On the knitting front, it seems at least 1/2 of the Monday Night Knitting group is either pregnant or JUST had babies... So loads and loads of baby things have been OTK. I've knit up about 3 sets of some cute booties from the Spring/Summer "Simply Knitting."

I've also been doing a very simple baby blanket knit from one of the corners out.

Still working on my Harry Potter Scarf... It shouldn't be a Harry Potter Scarf it should be a Charlie and the Choclate Factory Scarf because I think it is a relative of the never ending gobstoppers!

Esh!

Should have some pictures up on the blog tomorrow.

I did join the MS3 but haven't cast on and probably won't for a while... but I wanted in on the action along with 4 zillion other crazy knitters out there.

Finished a scarf and a purse for Xmas will post photos later. Am working on a baby blanket for my niece. How can she be only 5 years younger than me and be having a baby? I can not be a great aunt! Eeeep.

2 days ago I finished 2 WIPs. I say mostly because they are off the needles and just need some minor finishing.

The first is the dog "sweater" for Cocoa. "Sweater" is in quotes just because it'shalf sweater/half cape. Cocoa doesn't like sweaters pulled off so it has 2 straps that will hold it on her. I say will because the straps are done they just need to have buttons found and to be sewn or crocheted on. It was done in TLC Essentials in the color Oasis on size 8 straight neeldes.

The other object is a Fun Scarf. It was done with a strand of Carron Simply Soft in Victorian Rose and a strand of some Eyelash Fur yarn in a bunch of pink colors on size 15 needles.

Becky reminded me that I hadn't yet posted here (though I did on the KAL Blog) any pictures of the cable (insert ominous music here) scarf.

Notes first:
Cables aren't hard per say, but I do find them a little awkward (sp) at this moment. Most likely because I'm still new to the whole knitting thang. But it just feels like when you go to knit them off the cable needle that they have shrunk to a miniscule size. They look nice and they seem to be magic. One little change and POOF cables appear. :-)

Doing the scarf of size 8 needles in Red Hearts Super Saver in Aran Fleck.

This one is a slightly blurry close up of the cables.

I'm liking the appearance. I do hope that the yarn softens up just a tad after washing when it's done.

Projects and Meetups

Well, I've started going to Monday night meetups of a local knitting/crocheting group. I had been thinking about it for a while and after encouraging words from a friend who is a knitting goddess, I decided to go. Wow was it a good choice. Nice people, nice coffee house, just plain nice.

As for what is on the needles:
2 rows on the Irish Hiking Scarf for the KAL (See the right sidebar)
and I am 88% done with the Doggie Blanket. Well.. 94% done with the body then I need to knit the straps. Will add photos when I am done. :-)

Not sure why I called it stuff since it's one item. But It is done (a while back but couldn't post until Squirrel got it in the mail.) And she did.

I used one of the new fun furs and had a ball.

Note to self: Don't forget that fun fur likes to add stitches!
